If your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, you are eligible for the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB Program). This also includes Community Eligibility Provision school students, for which Richland Elementary is a member. The EBB Program is a temporary federal program to help eligible households pay for internet service during the pandemic. The EBB Program provides a monthly discount of not more than $50 per month on broadband service and associated equipment (for example, a modem) for eligible households and not more than $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Each participating household may also be reimbursed up to $100 for one connected device. Please welcome our new High School Math teacher, Mrs. Sarah Hall. Mrs. Hall grew up in Park Hills, MO and is a 2008 graduate from Central High School. She graduated from Drury University in Springfield in 2011and just finished her 10th year of teaching high school math. She's been married for 6 years and has an almost 3 year old son. Her husband is the new girls basketball coach next season. They are both excited to join the Bears family. Welcome to Richland, Mrs. Hall!

Please welcome our new Richland Junior High/High School Counselor, Mrs. Couri Shepard. Mrs. Shepard is a homegrown Richland graduate from the class of 2009. After she graduated high school, she went on to get her degree in Sociology at Southwest Baptist University. Later, she pursued an alternate route to my teaching certification. She's taught ELA for four years at the high school and middle school levels in the Stoutland and Waynesville school districts. Mrs. Shepard says she is beyond excited to join the team and build relationships with Richland students. Welcome to the Bear community, Mrs. Shepard!

A reminder that Monday, May 24, will be the last student day of school and it will be an early release day. Summer School will start on Thursday, May 27.
K-6 students participated in the St. Louis Picture the music by listening to music during music and art classes, and were encouraged to respond with paintings or drawings that expressed creative thought and emotion. One entry per grade was selected to represent RES. Over 300 entries were submitted and RES is honored to have 5 selected among the top 100. Congratulations to Keegan 6th grade and Tessa Kindergarten for receiving "Blue Ribbon" awards and being selected as one of the top 20 entries! Congratulations to Gunner 1st grade, Mikayla 4th grade, and Eric 5th grade for "Special Recognition" awards for the top 100 entries! Dakota 2nd grade and Benji 3rd grade received a Certificate of Merit award.

Please welcome Ms. Ashley Patzwald to Richland Junior High School. Ms. Patzwald lived her whole life in Linn Creek, Missouri. She graduated from Camdenton High School in 2016 and from Central Methodist University with a degree in English in December of 2020. She has wanted to be a teacher since she was in 4th grade. She will be joining Richland as our Junior High English teacher. Ms. Patzwald has been a substitute in the building for the past month or so and has already begun building connections with the kids. She will be a great addition to the school. Welcome to Richland!
Congratulations to Warren who received a Bear hat award from Mrs. Peters for "Most Comments" on his art projects on Artsonia gallery. Warren received a record 54 comments.
During art classes, all 5th and 6th grade students had the opportunity to design a recycled poster or recycle trash into art. A total of 45 projects were entered in the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management recycled competition. Congratulations to Alethia for receiving Honorable Mention for her poster and Chloe for receiving Honorable Mention for her Trash Art. Both girls received Certificates, bookmarks made from tires and a recycled water bottle.
Good luck to the baseball team today in the championship round of districts. They will play against Plato at 2:00 at Crocker!
