Last summer Mrs. Peters participated in a Science and Art mentor workshop. All art materials to complete the projects were provided by the National Science Foundation. All sixth grade students created Squash books and had the opportunity to create posters about Extreme Weather. Congratulations to the following students for completing the Squash book and submitting a poster; Peyton (Poster is Runner-Up), and Kourtney (Poster is a Runner-Up). Brooklynn poster received 1st Place. Brooklynn will receive a $50 gift card and her poster will be placed onto Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) buses. Patrons and visitors will view her art for the next year as the buses travel in and around Kansas City, Missouri.

We had previously been told by DESE that we would have to make up the two full days that we took off after Thanksgiving break for COVID issues. After discussing it with them on the number of hours we have been in school, we no longer need to make up both of the COVID days. We will be able to meet state statutory requirements by attending school on Monday, May 24. That will be the final day of school and it will be an early release day. Summer School will still start on May 27.
