We have some good news! The Seamless Summer Option program has been extended through the entire school year. This means that all of our students will continue to receive free breakfasts and lunches in both buildings all year. You do not need to sign up for this - just eat!

We will not have buses running this afternoon, but we will run all of our routes tomorrow morning on Thursday, October 15, with all 5 routes running. We may have to combine two routes tomorrow afternoon. After Thursday, we should return to all five routes through Tuesday of next week. We are still working on how many routes we will have next week on Wednesday and Thursday, October 21 & 22. We will update you when we have that schedule. I would once again like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during what has been a trying time for all of us. I would like to thank all of the people who have kept us up and running during this time. To our faculty, staff, and administration for all of the extra responsibilities they have had to shoulder. I would also like to send a special shout out to Tyler Brown and our transportation department for filling the routes and facilitating getting our students to and from school. Another big thank you as well to Laquey, Stoutland, and Dixon for their assistance during this time.

Due to COVID-19 reasons, we are down to only two bus drivers. Because of this we will not be able to run buses tomorrow, Wednesday October 14. We ask that anyone who can find alternative transportation to get your students to school please find a way to do so. This will give us the opportunity to see where we are at moving forward. Since we have just recently had most of our quarantined students return, we are doing everything we can to keep providing the best quality for education for our students. We will still run a bus to Waynesville Career Center and the Great Circle/Discovery routes. We will send out an update once we look at our options and formulate our plan.

To clarify, your student may be riding a different bus because of our combining some routes. We have contacted students about any permanent changes in bus assignments. Once again, if a Richland bus comes to your stop, please have your student get on, even if it is a different bus than normal.

We have had to quarantine two of our bus drivers and have had to change our routes somewhat. The Horse and Whale routes will be pretty much normal. If your child rides one of the other buses, please have them at their stop at least ten minutes early as we are unsure of what the effect the changes will have. The Sallytown / E Main portion of the routes will be about 15 minutes later. I believe the few students who are on a different route have been contacted, but if a Richland bus comes to your stop, please get on it and we will get your student to school. There will now be very little overlap where buses run in the same areas. Thank you again for your understanding and patience during all of this.

We found out during the day today that we have a bus driver with a positive test result. We may have to quarantine up to two other drivers as we are still trying to determine contacts. We have arranged for substitute drivers this afternoon for anyone in question, which will also give us time to see where we are bus wise by Tuesday morning. (a reminder that Monday is a professional development day and we will not have students on campus) Your student's bus may have a substitute driver that doesn’t know the stops on the route. Because of this, we will have a vehicle driving in front of them to guide where the stops need to happen. We wanted you to know that we will get your students home safely and to not be worried about the vehicle stopping regularly in front of your bus. We did need to quarantine 8 students and their families have been notified already. Students sitting in the same seat every day will help cut down on that - so please help us let your child understand that. I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who helped us get through this situation and for your patience and understanding.

We are about to have numerous students return to school after their quarantine period is over. If you had students who were quarantined, you should have been contacted to make sure the return date is correct. We have been working hard to make sure that we have the correct dates for everyone. This includes steps such as having to sometimes retrace through additional contacts as they become known. If your student is scheduled to return, please do not send them if they are showing any symptoms and have them report to the office before returning to class. If they were to end up being positive, that could restart the process all over again. Even if your student isn’t under quarantine, do not send them if they are sick. I apologize that this process is sometimes confusing and difficult to get through. We are working in concert with the health department and I want to give my appreciation to everyone involved in the process, from school employees to staff at the health department. I would also like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience as we work together to get through this.
