Hopefully this is a situation we will not have to deal with in the future. Once again I thank you for your patience and understanding during the pandemic.

Students who need a device to work on at home are being issued one. We have established a meal option for students who will be out and further information will be sent out regarding that. Please try to be as safe as possible at home, especially if you are quarantined or a positive case. We are making this change to try to get through this tough period and hope it will help stem the tide. Masks, social distancing, frequent thorough hand washing, and staying at home if quarantined, are all positive steps we can take to help in this situation. Also, please do not send any student to school if they have any of the COVID symptoms. Hopefully, this will get us out of the worst of things and thank you again for your patience and understanding throughout this pandemic.

Due to a driver shortage, we have adjusted our bus routes on Wednesday and Thursday. The Kangaroo and Deer riders will all be on the Deer (9) bus. In the morning, The Kangaroo riders will need to be ready about 10 minutes early and the Deer riders will be picked up from normal time to around ten minutes late. In the afternoon, the Deer route riders should drop off about normal time and the Kangaroo riders will be delayed about 10-15 minutes. I want to thank everyone again for their patience and understanding as we work through these situations.
The Deer bus will be late 5-10 minutes tomorrow and Thursday! Please be on the look-out for the bus. Thank you for your understanding!!!

We may have to combine two routes tomorrow afternoon. After Thursday, we should return to all five routes through Tuesday of next week. We are still working on how many routes we will have next week on Wednesday and Thursday, October 21 & 22. We will update you when we have that schedule. I would once again like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during what has been a trying time for all of us. I would like to thank all of the people who have kept us up and running during this time. To our faculty, staff, and administration for all of the extra responsibilities they have had to shoulder. I would also like to send a special shout out to Tyler Brown and our transportation department for filling the routes and facilitating getting our students to and from school. Another big thank you as well to Laquey, Stoutland, and Dixon for their assistance during this time.

Due to COVID-19 reasons, we are down to only two bus drivers. Because of this we will not be able to run buses tomorrow, Wednesday October 14. We ask that anyone who can find alternative transportation to get your students to school please find a way to do so. This will give us the opportunity to see where we are at moving forward. Since we have just recently had most of our quarantined students return, we are doing everything we can to keep providing the best quality for education for our students. We will still run a bus to Waynesville Career Center and the Great Circle/Discovery routes. We will send out an update once we look at our options and formulate our plan.

Update on high school sports cancellations due to COVID-19. Soccer: all games through October 23rd.
To clarify, your student may be riding a different bus because of our combining some routes. We have contacted students about any permanent changes in bus assignments. Once again, if a Richland bus comes to your stop, please have your student get on, even if it is a different bus than normal.
We have had to quarantine two of our bus drivers and have had to change our routes somewhat. The Horse and Whale routes will be pretty much normal. If your child rides one of the other buses, please have them at their stop at least ten minutes early as we are unsure of what the effect the changes will have. The Sallytown / E Main portion of the routes will be about 15 minutes later. I believe the few students who are on a different route have been contacted, but if a Richland bus comes to your stop, please get on it and we will get your student to school. There will now be very little overlap where buses run in the same areas. Thank you again for your understanding and patience during all of this.
We found out during the day today that we have a bus driver with a positive test result. We may have to quarantine up to two other drivers as we are still trying to determine contacts. We have arranged for substitute drivers this afternoon for anyone in question, which will also give us time to see where we are bus wise by Tuesday morning. (a reminder that Monday is a professional development day and we will not have students on campus) Your student's bus may have a substitute driver that doesn’t know the stops on the route. Because of this, we will have a vehicle driving in front of them to guide where the stops need to happen. We wanted you to know that we will get your students home safely and to not be worried about the vehicle stopping regularly in front of your bus. We did need to quarantine 8 students and their families have been notified already. Students sitting in the same seat every day will help cut down on that - so please help us let your child understand that. I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who helped us get through this situation and for your patience and understanding.
Richland Elementary picture day is tomorrow—October 9th.
We are about to have numerous students return to school after their quarantine period is over. If you had students who were quarantined, you should have been contacted to make sure the return date is correct. We have been working hard to make sure that we have the correct dates for everyone. This includes steps such as having to sometimes retrace through additional contacts as they become known. If your student is scheduled to return, please do not send them if they are showing any symptoms and have them report to the office before returning to class. If they were to end up being positive, that could restart the process all over again. Even if your student isn’t under quarantine, do not send them if they are sick. I apologize that this process is sometimes confusing and difficult to get through. We are working in concert with the health department and I want to give my appreciation to everyone involved in the process, from school employees to staff at the health department. I would also like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience as we work together to get through this.

Masks are optional in the stands - but I did want to mention that we have had some people inquire about making them mandatory to make it safer for everyone. Individuals will need to make their own decisions about masks and also attending events, but please at least consider those thoughts and do continue to try to social distance as much as possible. This was the same program that provided meals during the COVID break last spring and into the summer. Any meal charges that have been made this week are being refunded to your students’ accounts. This program does not erase any previous outstanding balances in meal accounts, so please continue to pay those off. According to DESE, this program is scheduled to run through December, or until funding runs out - whichever occurs SOONER. Please understand that this may cause things to be much busier at the JH/HS at meal time, but we will work through the situation to make sure we get our students fed. Thanks again for your patience.

We are excited to see our students back in the classroom this Monday, August 24. As a reminder about the expectations this year, We ask that students wear masks on the bus; entering and leaving the building; in the hallways; and anywhere else that we cannot totally socially distance. It would be great if everyone wore masks throughout the school day as they have been shown to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. We are also trying to cut down on visitors to the bare minimum as well and ask that they wear masks while on campus. If you need to drop off something for your student or to get them a message, the building office of your child’s school will be more than happy to help. One of the other vital moves you can make to keep everything as safe as possible is to keep your student at home if they have a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher or have other symptoms. I would like to personally thank everyone for being patient and understanding as we work together to deal with these circumstances beyond our control. Once again, please stay home if you are sick!

I wanted to share some information about our virtual learning option. Students who select this option will have a two week grace period to change their minds and come back to seated learning. After that time, students will be expected to stay in the virtual mode until at least the end of the quarter to complete the grading period. This will help us effectively plan and schedule. Virtual students will be expected to log in daily and will have the same assignment deadlines as seated students. They will also not be able to visit campus during the school day. In addition, students who choose virtual learning will not be able to participate in extracurricular activities while in that status. This will include athletics and any activities that are not a part of a student’s course grade.

In the Junior High/High School, the divisions will be based on student grade, with the two buildings meeting in different sections of the school. The schedule will be: 4:30-5:30 7th, 9th, 12th; 5:30-6:30 8th, 10th; 6:30-7:30 11th If you have any additional questions, please contact the appropriate building office: Elementary or Junior High/High School st 573-765-3241

Due to a misunderstanding, it was portrayed that Richland R-IV wasn’t spending money on classroom supplies like they had previously done due to COVID-19 concerns. This is not the case - there has been no change on that front. We appreciate the thought of helping out and thank Better Lives Today for all that they have done (and continue to do) for our students and staff in getting extras, providing supplies for students in need, etc. We are grateful for anyone who is willing to provide assistance for students and to help with special projects , etc. However, please know that we will continue to provide the basic necessities for school and also for any needs that arise due to the ever changing situation we find ourselves in.
Please call the school office if you've had a change in phone numbers, address, or emergency contacts so we can update this information before school starts. Thanks
Thursday August 6th is PK/K screening and enrollment. Call the office to schedule your appointment @ 573-765-3812 ext. 2201

Seniors, due to some technical issues with our student information system I will not be able to release accurate final GPA's until the first of next week. I sincerely apologize, but I want to make sure our numbers are correct.
A reminder about the PEBT benefits for free and reduced lunch students - all elementary students qualify because we are a CEP school. Under location, select Pulaski County because that is where the school is located. Then select Pulaski County R-IV and which school your students attend. If your student goes to the elementary, select Yes to the question about being a special provision school. Details can be found on the website under News.

I have been made aware of a couple issues with the P-EBT application online. For our students who live in Camden or Laclede counties, our school is not coming up as an option for you. I have contacted the DESE Coordinator for FNS to get the problem corrected but have not heard back yet. Also, for financial purposes, our school is officially called Pulaski County R-IV, so you will need to make that your selection. I apologize for this issue and am working to correct the problem.
DESE has asked us to send out a reminder about the Pandemic Electronic Benefits for families of students who qualify for free or reduced lunches. Since we are a CEP elementary school, all students in that building qualify. Please see the website under News for more information.

Any Richland Junior High or High School athlete who will be in grades 6-12 and plans on participating in athletics for the 2020-21 school year will need a physical. This does not include those athletes who turned one in for the 2019-20 school year as MSHSAA is allowing physicals on a 2-year basis (730 days), unless it expires throughout the school year (ex. A physical that was received 3/2/19 is valid through 3/1/21). While the MSHSAA PPE Form is now valid for a two year period from the date of the physical examination, all other pre-participation documents must still be completed annually for every student athlete. These forms are available in the high school office or you can download and print on the MSHSAA website (MSHSAA.org) under Sports Medicine. Please turn forms into the high school office or bring on the first day of fall practice.
ALL SENIORS: Please go to your school email and complete the Prom survey. Thank you
Richland R-IV is accepting bids in the following areas for 2020-2021: dairy, lawn maintenance, and diesel fuel. Bids are due by noon on June 11. Details can found on the district website under News.
All high school students who have completed their sophomore, junior, and senior years, Park University is offering early college enrollment for $90/credit hour/3 credits per class, for up to two online classes (compare to MSU at $218/credit hour). For more information and to enroll (complete the ‘Get Started’ form) go to: https://www.park.edu/admissions/early-college-online/. Make sure to notify the high school of your enrollment so we can send transcripts immediately. Classes begin Friday, June 8th.
All of the P-BET information can be found under News.
All families that qualify for free or reduced meals at school are now eligible for a one-time Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer of up to $302 per child (PK-grade 12). Please see the letter and links with information on our website. This will include all of our elementary students since we are a CEP school. Right now there is not a place to list that CEP option and it looks like you would have to submit a paper application. That is not the case. I have talked with the DESE FNS Coordinator and that will be fixed on Thursday. If you fill out the application before that fix and list your student as attending Richland Elementary, their system will flag your students as CEP eligible. Please see the website as there is a lot of information there.
I would like to invite everyone to a Fine Arts presentation featuring Jr./Sr. High student artwork and musical performances. Go to: https://youtu.be/MF-b35yKknI and enjoy. Special thank you to Mrs. Blackburn, Miss Helton, and Mrs. Dains for their hard work to make this happen.
We are making a change to our meal delivery program for next week only. To allow our employees to enjoy Memorial Day with their families, we will deliver on Tuesday and Thursday and then return to our previous schedule on June 1. Please help spread the word and thank you for your understanding
It is preschool graduation that will be set soon, not kindergarten. I apologize for any confusion
Due to health concerns and low projected attendance numbers, Richland Schools will not have summer school this year. We still plan to start the upcoming school year on August 24 as originally scheduled.
High school graduation has been set for Friday, July 10 at 7 pm, with a backup date of Saturday, August 1 at 7 pm. The details of what it will look like are still being decided. We will also be releasing dates and details soon on Prom and Kindergarten graduation and the 6th grade advancement ceremony.
I have heard a rumor that we have a graduation date set, but that is not the case. We are still looking at what time frame and what form will work best for our students and district. We are also still discussing what to do with summer school. The survey is still open on the website - thank you to everyone who has already filled it out. Knowing if your students would/wouldn’t be in attendance will help us make our final decision. When we have that information we will pass it along.
FREE COVID-19 virus testing will be available to all Pulaski County residents this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the St. Robert Community Center. Students, please check your student email accounts on a regular basis. Teachers are communicating with you. Remember, school is still in session so make sure you are completing your assignments and getting them returned. Your grades are positively impacted by returned work.
We still are going to try to hold graduation, advancement ceremonies, and prom when, and if, that becomes possible. We don’t want to have to cancel them and reschedule yet again, so we are awaiting more guidance on stay at home orders, social distancing, etc. Once we have more information we will look at scheduling these events and share that with you.
Seniors, please send a baby/youth picture of yourself as well as a picture of your choice as your senior portrait to Ms. Proctor at firstname.lastname@example.org. These will be used for the yearbook. Thank you.
With the abrupt end of the school year, we couldn’t get group photos of our student organizations. If you have pictures you would be willing to share, please email them to email@example.com. It would be a great help! Bear Pride!

Meal delivery starts at 9am today. The whale bus is a white school van today.
We do not yet know about summer school but will let you know when there is an update. It is also our intention to do something with graduations, advancement ceremonies, and prom, if possible, when the restrictions on groups meeting are lessened. Once we have some more guidance in that area we will pass it along.
In case you missed it, Governor Parsons closed all Missouri schools for the rest of the year. Food service will continue and we are going to keep educating students by distance learning through the scheduled end of our school year.

You can go out to pick up packets if you want because we are an essential business by the stay at home order. Please follow safe practices- no more people out than necessary and no direct contact. If you prefer, we will deliver packets on Tuesday to everyone who didn’t pick them up on Monday. Also, food delivery will only run on Monday and Wednesday this week. Three days of food will be delivered on Wednesday since Friday was going to be a day off for our staff. We will return to the normal schedule on April 13. Stay safe, Bear Pride!

Please be aware of the Pulaski County stay at home order that was issued, effective at 5:00. This should not affect food and homework pick up and delivery as we are an essential business. GO CAPS interviews for those who signed up (sophomores and juniors only) will be held this Monday and Tuesday. Please check your student email account and respond with your preferred time. A link will be sent to your email at that time. Thank you.

After consulting with local health agencies, state and federal guidelines, and other area schools, I want to let you know that Richland Schools will be out of session through April 24 due to the COVID-19 virus. At this time we are continuing our food delivery on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and are updating our educational plans as we move forward. More information will be shared soon. Stay safe, Richland Bears.
Congratulations to the following athletes for being named to the Central Missouri All-District Basketball Team: Ethan Fagre (First Team), Veston Fearon (Second Team), Katelyn Cole and Miranda Moss (First Team).
I would like to commend our staff for their work in meeting the needs of our students in the food delivery process and continuing to prepare for student education in this time of uncertainty. I would also like to give a big thank you to our parents for their work in coming to pick up the homework packets on Monday! I was amazed by the number of you that came to the school to pick them up. It made the delivery on Tuesday much smoother than I anticipated. Thanks again. I know that some area schools have suspended these services but it is my intention to continue to provide them as long as possible. We are still currently scheduled to be out until April 6. I would like to remain optimistic about that date but we will have to wait to see how the situation unfolds before then. We will continue to keep you informed of any updates in that area. State mandated testing has been suspended for the current school year. There has also been some forgiveness for students in areas such as the testing requirements to qualify for the A+ program. Please keep following the recommended guidelines- groups of 10 or less, use social distancing, and don’t go out unless you need to. Hopefully these measures will help cut down on the number of cases. Stay safe and we look forward to when things return back to normal and we can see the students again.
Due to recent CDC and federal government guidelines, we will be postponing Prom 2020. We are actively looking to reschedule from April 18th to a future date. Please be patient as continue to monitor the current situation in the coming weeks.
As you are looking through assignments if you need help please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call ext 202 or your classroom teacher. We are here to help. Thank you (or email me a video of your student reading) I would love to "see" them!
We are holding a special Board meeting tomorrow night to approve bids for a potential FEMA addition if extra funding becomes available. That is the only item on the agenda and it was necessary to get our paperwork in by the deadline.

Packet pick-up for elementary students will be on Monday, March 23rd from 9am-6pm. Please pull up to the front doors and remain in your car. A staff member will get your name and bring all materials to your car. Please honk if you do not see staff. Thank you
A reminder that our food delivery will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week. We will deliver two days of food on Monday and Wednesday. In addition, an educational route will be run on Tuesday to deliver packets to everyone who can’t pick them up on Monday. The principals have details on the pick up process. Thanks again for everyone’s patience and understanding. I have been really proud of the efforts of the Richland R-IV family to provide for our students!
Packet pick-up for Jr./Sr. High School students will be on Monday, March 23rd from 9am-6pm. Please pull up to the junior high doors and remain in your car. A teacher will get your name and bring all materials to your car. Basically, we will run packet pick-up just like car rider drop-off only we will bring the work out to you instead of you dropping your child off.
Dear Richland R-IV Patrons, Due to the continued concerns of the COVID-19 virus, we will be out of school until April 6. We have made plans to provide educational content to your students during this time. The teachers will have lessons online and we will be sending packets home for students without internet access. (or who would prefer that method of delivery) There will be two methods of getting the packets. We will have a parent pickup on Monday, March 23 from 9:00 am until 6:00 at each building. The elementary access will be at the front door and at the junior/high school it will be in the back of the gym by the library. We will bring the work out to you so that no one has to enter the building. We do not want students to stress out about the work but we want to provide opportunities for them to work on skills they will need to use when we return. For those of you who cannot pick up the packets, we will run a bus to deliver them on Tuesday morning, March 24. The teachers will also have “office hours” from 9:00 am to noon daily where they can be reached for any assistance that is needed, That will vary and may consist of email, phone calls, or online messaging. All extracurricular activities will be suspended as long as we are out due to the virus concerns. We also ask that outside groups not use our facilities as we are trying to ensure we have the social distancing suggested by the CDC. We have also changed our food delivery process a bit. We will deliver on Thursday and Friday of this week as we have been doing the last two days. Starting next week, we will deliver food on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Two days worth of meals will be delivered on Monday and Wednesday. These meals are available to any child 18 or under. (or any current Richland student who is over 18) Please continue to spread word of this program by word of mouth so that everyone knows about it. Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding through these difficult times. I have been very impressed and proud of our employees as they have worked hard to meet the needs of our students. We will continue to work together for what is best for our students and community and eventually things will return to normal. Sincerely, Brian Lee Superintendent Richland R-IV School

Kangaroo and Horse route buses have already left to deliver food. Please be ready to meet them.
From MSHSAA in regards to the Music Festival: We regret that we are canceling the remaining district solo/small ensemble, large group, as well as the State solo/small ensemble festivals.
Starting tomorrow morning we will be distributing school meals, free of charge. Two meals will go out at the same time, starting at 9:00 and will be delivered to your student’s bus stop. You don’t need to be a bus rider to get a meal - that is how we will know where to deliver it. In addition, we will have a grab and go station at the back side of the gym in the elementary school, if that works better for you. Please be patient as we work this process out. We also have no idea how many children will want meals, but we will work that our as we go. To help in our planning, if you do not want meals for your children, you can email that to me at email@example.com Thank you for your understanding as we work together though these circumstances.
Please complete this form in regards to your Internet Capabilities. Thank you https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bZ9VTbDgqpVt0eu5Wm5hjU11w5UbXuJBRd3rIly7T5k/edit?usp=sharing
We are looking at options for alternative forms of education, if necessary. We need to ensure that all of our students can be reached. We are also looking at options for meal distribution. I will let you know when we have more information
After continued discussion and research we have decided to extend Spring Break for another week through March 22 for the safety of everyone in our distinct.
Please keep your students home if they do have a fever, (100.4 or higher per CDC recommendation) cough, or shortness of breath. Check the website for a couple of longer releases and updates.
March 15, 2020 Dear Richland Patrons, I know there has been a lot of discussion of students and staff returning from a cruise during spring break. We have been in contact with local health agencies and continue to monitor updates from the CDC and other resources several times a day. This includes a discussion earlier today with the Pulaski County Health Department - who does not recommend that we quarantine those people as they return. The cruise line took precautions against the spread of any Infectious diseases. The passengers have been monitored for any signs of sickness and will be as they leave the ship. While symptoms can take awhile to show up, the cruise in question did not come in contact with any of the level three threat areas. This information is consistent with the recommendations of other health agencies. These protocols call for quarantine of people who have traveled to Level Three Threat areas, as detailed by the CDC. Basically, they are countries in Asia and Europe. There are a couple of areas of concern in the United States - mainly in Washington state and New York. We continue to check for updates and stay in touch with local, regional, and national agencies as the situation. We are committed to making sure our students and staff are all a safe as possible but want to disrupt their education as little as possible as well. We also talk with other area schools to get their thoughts. Each school has to do what they feel is best for their district. If the situation changes or our contact agencies change their positions on the best practices, we will keep you informed. Sincerely, Brian Lee Superintendent Richland R-IV Schools
Due to concerns for the health and safety of our student performers, spectators, accompanists, directors, adjudicators, and staff, MSHSAA is suspending all district solo/small ensemble and state large group music festivals through March 21, 2020.
